Influence of soil moisture content on the glyphosate efficacy for barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus- galli (L.) Beauv.) control was investigated under greenhouse conditions. The experiment was arranged as split plot in randomized complete block design with 4 replications. Two soil moisture contents (field capacity=33.3 percent and water stress condition=16.7 percent w/w ) and 3 rates of glyphosate (180 , 360, and 540 g (a.e.) per rai) were applied as main plot and subplot, respectively. The results indicated that high soil moisture content (33.33 percent w/w) gave better control on barnyardgrass as compared to that obtained for glyphosate under the low soil moisture content (16.7 percent w/w). With respect to glyphosate rate, no significant effect on barnyardgrass control occurred under the same level of soil moisture content. However, increasing glyphosate rate tended to increase the glyphosate efficacy under low soil moisture content. In addition, no interaction between glyphosate rate and soil moisture content was found.
