The association of the estrogen receptor (ESR) gene with the reproduction traits of Large White and Belarusian Meaty breeds of sows was studied. Genetic structure of sow populations of different breeds and cross-breeds according to ESR gene was presented. Research studies of sows with ERSsup(BB) showed the tendency of increasing of litter weight of born piglets, weight of twenty-one day old piglets and piglets weight after weaning period, as well as the increasing of piglets viability and lowering of the percentage of the emergency farrows (farrow of sows when the number of healthy born piglets or the number of piglets per 2 months was 6 or lower) and stillborn piglets. Sows of Large White breeds of ERSsup(AA) genotype gave birth to stillborn piglets on 1,8% more often than the sows of ERSsup(BB) genotype. Sows of Belarusian Meaty breeds of ERSsup(AA) genotype gave birth to stillborn piglets on 1,4% more often than the sows of ERSsup(BB) genotype. Sows of ERSsup(AA) genotype showed the higher percentage of the emergency farrows in comparison with homozygote of ERSsup(BB) genotype. Productivity indices of heterozygous sows were on the in-between position between homozygote indices. Influence of ESR gene on the duration of gestation period was not revealed. The reliable positive influence of gene allele ERSsup(B) on the total number of born piglets including the alive ones, quantity of piglets on the twenty-first day after birth and after weaning period was noted
