Research results of prophylactic veterinary examination of herds of highly productive cows with more than 5000 kg of lactation performance were presented. In the majority of analyzed farms animals were kept in all-the-year-round confinement conditions and fed by corn silage and concentrated feeds. Analysis of realized tests showed that in spite of the increasing of milk yields the cows sickness rate remained on a high level and in some cases even become worse. Clinical signs of pathologic processes were revealed in 50-60% of 12 studied cows herds and disorders of laboratory indices were stated in 92,3% of animals. Metabolic disorders were the prevailing pathologies. Clinical form of osteodystrophy was revealed in 36,5% of animals, subclinical form – in 76,4% of cows. Constant long-lasting derangement metabolism of calcium and other types of mineral metabolism caused the acute hypocalcemia tetany and milk-fever. Large amounts of daily feed, lack of motion and low ambient temperature caused the mass hypotonia. Ketosis was registered in 27,5% of cases. Symptoms of lowering of liver functional capacity were revealed in 50% of cows. Lowering of cobalt content in blood was revealed in 48,3% of animals, zinc - in 30,6%, manganese – in 12,4%. Lowering of copper content in blood serum was revealed in 62,3% of cows, selenium content – in 62,3%. Research results proved the necessity revision of veterinary and sanitary technology of health maintenance of highly productive cattle
