Two simple media containing both Agar Oxoid No. 3, and respectively, 2 % gelatine and 2 % starch, were used to study hydrolysis with no need to use coagulating substances in order to reveal the results. A description is made of how to prepare the media, how to use them, and how advantageous they are for studying the gelatine and starch hydrolysis in the identification of bacteria.
