Influence of early potatoes growing under floating row cover on structure of yield component
2006
Dvorak, P. | Hamouz, K.
Field experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect of white polypropylene textile Pegas-agro 17 UV used in protected cultivation on the yield formation in two early potato varieties, Adora and Impala. In comparison with control plants, modified micro-climatic conditions under the row cover significantly increased the total weight of potato tubers (by 7.2% in Adora and by 11.8% in Impala), the number of marketable tubers (by 6% in Impala), haulm weight (by 8.0% in Adora and by 14.0% in Impala) as well as the length of the longest stem (by 6.6% in Adora and by 6.9% in Impala) and the number of stems per plant (by 4.1% in Adora and by 4.0% in Impala). On the contrary, the use of the textile did not influence the total number of tubers. As shown by our results, in most cases, the protected cultivation led to the increase of different yield components. Its effect depended on the variety used.
