Evaluation of the wind erosion risks in GIS

A model created in GIS and exploiting a pedological information database was used to determine potential risks of wind erosion. Data about the agricultural land use, meteorological data and topographic maps served to determine wind directions and climatic conditions. After transferring the data to a graphic form, it was possible to create a digital terrain model and to regionalise the meteorological data. Wind barriers were then localised in the landscape. Consequently, it was possible to create a zone of efficiency around each barrier according to the characteristics of their height and density.
