Determination of interval and irrigation water depth by evaporation pan and its effect on cotton quantity and quality
2003
Ghorbani Nasrabad, Ghorban
In order to determine the time and irrigation water quantity by evaporation pan datas , an experiment was conducted in 1380 and 1381 at Hashemabad Cotton Research Station of Gorgan by Silty clay loam soil and Split - Split plot design with three replications . Irrigation time treatments were : irrigation after 80 , 110 and 140 mm cumulative evaporation of pan as main plot , irrigation water quantity on bases of 40 , 70 and 100 % evaporation of pan as sub plot , Sahel and Siokra cultivars as sub-sub plot. The two-year Composite analysis results showed that during these years there were significant difference according to the yield, quality properties and earliness , but there were no significant difference according to water use efficiency and boll weight . Also, there were not significant difference between irrigation time treatments according to the yield , boll weight , earliness , water use efficiency , lint percentage , strength , elongation and micronarry , but on view of fiber length and uniformity there were significant different . The effect of irrigation water quantity were not significant on yield , boll weight and quality properties , but on earliness and water use efficiency was significant . Cotton yield and water use efficiency in siokra cultivar was more to 7.6 and 9.2 % than sahel cultivars respectivelly. There were significant different between two cotton cultivars on view of lint percentage , uniformity and micronarry . Ultimatelly , The best treatment of irrigation management , higher water use efficiency , yield and quantity could be irrigating after 140 mm evaporation from pan with 40 % water requirement and Siokra cultivar .
