Chickpea is an important pulse crop in Maragheh region of Iran. The state contains about 7000 - 1000000 ha of chickpea under cultivation . Increasing amount of biological nitrogen fixation as one of vital necessities for systainable agricultural system has been emphasized. Application methods which on the base of which we can increase the useful activities, through inoculation with soil, seed or planet is important in durable agriculture. This experiment is executed to study the nitrogen fixation efficiency of chickpea (Cultivar ILC 482) in symbiosis with some mesorhizobium strains in 13 treatment and 4 replications as complete randomized blocks design. Treatments include six single-strains and six doubl-strain inoculant which were selected from advanced strains of ICRISAT, ICARDA and SWRI, along with one control ( without inoculation). Results showed that Rhizobium inoculation has positive effect on root nodules formation compared to non-inoculation. Rhizobium inoculation not only increased root nodules, but also increased grain yield of chickpea. Inoculation of seeds with Rhizobium increased plant nitrogen, phosphorus content and dry matter yield of chikpea compared to “non- inoculation “.
