Comparision some methods for determination available sulfur and its uptake by canola, and obtain the best ratio of N/S in Canola
2000

In order to perform of this experiment we choosed 19 bulk soil samples of the surface horizons, (were selected from over 50 soil samples) representing the soils under cannola cultivation in kermanshah, Fars and Mazandaran provinces and theirs sulfur available were extracted by distilled water, 0.01 M CaCh, 0.1 M LiCI, 500 mg P/L Ca(H2P04h, and 0.5 M NH40Ac + 0.25 M CH3COOH . An 8 weeks greenhouse experiment was carried out using a 19x3 completely randomized factorial block design with cannola, grown in the 19 soils (Clay 19-51 %pH 6.86-8.07Organic matter 0.69-5.78%Calcium Carbonate equivalent 1.2-58%), at 3 levels of applied S (0, 15, 30 mg S-S04-2 kg-I), with 3 replications. Five extractants showed significantly correlations with plant responses, but Ca(H2P04)2 is the best to evaluate of sulfur uptake of canola. N:S ratio in eleven determined. Application of 15 and 30 mg S Kg-I Soil increased the dry weight, sulfur concentration in plants and total sulfur uptake by canola plants significantly. The critical levels for soil sulfur as determined by the extracting agents water, CaCI2, LiCI, Ca (H2P04)2, NH4 OAc + CH3COOH, were 16.5, 17.14, 18.1,21,56.6 mg kg-1 respectively.
