Finale report of research project optaining to superior olive (Olea europaea l.)cultivars with methods of diallel cross and mass selection in Tarom region

In 1997-1999 for obtain new olive cultivars was performed cross pollination programme between three native CV.(Zard,Roghani, Mari) and three foreign CV.(Manzanilla , Leccino, Beladi).This programme was carry out at the Olive Research Station of Roodbar.In all 34 genetic combination and open pollination were carry out ,134 seedlings(61 hybrid and 73 open pollinate) was obtained .To review the seedlings as a whole was studied the folowing characters:Vigoure,behaviour of the crown habit,axis diameter at the base, resistance of trunk against the wind, behaviour of adult phase,carpological characters and oil content. The vegetative characters analysed for seedlings obtained from open pollination showed that 25% of seedlings had low vigour ,42% medium and 33% high.The abundance of upright crown was 12.5% and there wasnt weeping crown.Most of progeny (79%) had low density crown .The genotype of A18 ,A14,and A17 showed strong vigour and genotype of A11 had lowest vigour.The crossbreed seedlings showed three kind of Vigoure,weak (26%), medium(38%) and strong (36%) .Progeny obtained from CV. Mari- as female parent- was generally (60%) vigourus.The up right crown was 25% and drooping 13%.The spreading crown with 62% was found in all combinations.Only one percent of progeny had chlorosis symptom.32% of progeny were found with resistant against the wind . The result of this study showed that 8% of all seedlings had completely passed juvenile stage and 55% had intermadiate characters and 37% still presented typical juvenile characters. The CV. Manzanilla where used as male parent and CV. Zard as female had great effect to induce short juvenile stage. Genotype of A6,A10 and A21 had fruit weight more than 6.3gr.The genotype of A22 had fruits with 7.8gr weight.The genotype of A21 had least stone weight(0.49gr) and maximum retio of flesh to stone.Genotypes of A14 had 53% oil in dry matter and A4, 37.5% oil in dry matter.In crossbreed population genotype of Az54 had highest (59%) oil in dry matter. and#1634and#1633
