The effect of types and sources of nitrogen on sugarbeet root rot, yield and sucrose content was studied. The sources of nitrogen were urea, amonium sulfate, amonium nitrate, and sulfur coated urea, with the rates of 120, 180, 240, 300 kg ha -1 . The experiment was carried- out using CRBD in a factorial design with four replications for three years in Marvdasht and Kavar counties. The results were analysed using SAS and SPSS soft wares. In the first year, the highest root yield was obtained from N120 (sulfur coated urea) at the rate of 34.25 ton ha -1 and the lowest from N300 (amonium sulfate) at rate of 20.12 ton ha -1 . The difference in yield was significant(P=.01). The highest sugarbeet root rot was obtained from N300 (amonium nitrate) at the rate of 60% and the lowest from N120 (sulfur coated urea) at the rate of 7.5%. The effect of types and rate of nitrogen fertilizer on sucrose content was significant. The results of the second year showed that the lowest root rot was 11.7% which was obtained from N180 (amonium sulfate). The intraction of rate and sources of nitrogen fertilizer on sugarbeet root, and yield was significant at P= .05.
