Study on combinations of maize lines in early generation test.

The early maturing hybrids of maize are necessary to develop grain corn planted areas in temperate regions. Getting the suitable lines is important for producing these hybrids. In order to evaluation of 19 lines (in S3 generation), obtained hybrids from crossing between these lines and two tester lines (K1263/1 and K2816) compared together (38 hybrids) and with KSC301 and KSC108 hybrids as Control. The experiment was conducted in Torogh agricultural research station (in khorasan province) in 2003. The experimental design was randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Results showed that the whole of evaluated characteristics were affected by hybrids. Grain yield and maturity period ranges are equal 7.635-11.860 ton/ha and 105.3-124.3 days respectively. The weight of 300-kernel and number of kernel per row have maximum positive and significant regression with grain yield.
