Screening of drough tolerant inbred lines of corn under different regines of irrigation

In this study 121 S2 lines of grain corn were planted under two regimes of irrigation in order to screening the better drought tolerant lines in Torogh Agricultural Research of Mashhad in 1998. The regimes of irrigation were 90 ± 5 and 150 ± 5 mm evaporation. The experimental design was simple lattice (11*11). The seeds of each line was planted at two rows. The studied characters were No. of days from sowing to germination, anthesis and silking date, silking-anthesis interval (ASI), No. of leaves/plants, plant and ear height, grain yield and its components. The analysis of Variance showed significant differences between S2 line at two irrigation regimes. Means of grain yield at normal irrigation (90 ± 5mm) was higher than water stress regim (150 ± 5mm). The best lines at normal and water stress regimes were No. 68 and 73 with 10.51 and 7.08 ton/hac, respectively.
