Genetic Variation at D1S80 Locus in the Turkish Population

Allele and genotype frequencies for D1S80 locus were studied in a sample of 362 individuals by using amplified fragment length polymorphism technique (AMP-FLP) in Turkey. There were 22 different alleles and 80 distinct genotypes observed in the Turkish population. The D1S80 locus deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.743 and 0.807, respectively. The power discrimination was 0.94. Alleles #18 and #24 were found to be the two most common alleles in this population sample and their frequencies were 0.232 and 0.352, respectively.
