[Changes of falling number in rye and triticale]
2007
Kokare, A. | Kronberga, A.
The grain quality of 13 rye varieties has been determined at the Priekuli Plant Breeding Station (Latvia) in 2006. In 4 diagrams showed changes of falling number in rye breeding line '405-23' (Latvia) dependence on harvesting time and precipitation amount during 2004-2005. In Priekuli during 2004-2006 falling number of different triticale varieties dependence from harvesting time has been tested. One of the ruling indicators, who influenced falling number, is weather conditions. 2004 year was the best year for grain falling number. In this year triticale has start blossom on 17 June and full ripeness stage has reached on 10 August. June 2005 was warm and sunny, however late spring has influenced blossoming of triticale and its falling number was law (average 71 seconds). July 2006 was very hot and dry, and grain ripening happened too quickly (time from blossoming till full ripeness was only 41 day). In results, average falling number of triticale was 120 seconds.
