The most common floral visitors of Musa spp. were stingless bees (Trigona spp.), honey bees (Apis spp.), carpenter bees (Xylocopa spp.), Drosophila sp. and ants. Their activities synchronized with anthesis. Since the banana inflorescence contains copious amount of nectar and enormous pollen grains, foraging bees may not transfer anymore to another flower. Such behavior minimizes the chance of disease transmission.
