Biomass and yield response of corn to the application of liquified seaweeds fertilizer
2004

Efficacy test was conducted to generate information on the biomass and yield of corn to the application of Nonoy's Liquid Seaweeds Fertilizer at 500 ml per 16 liters of water applied every 10 days started 10 days after planting and ended at dough stage of corn. The study was composed of six treatments arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) replicated four times. It was established at Barangay [village] Binugao, Toril, Davao City [Philippines]. The experiment lasted for 105 days covering the period November 2002 to March 2003. Results showed that biomass and yield of corn (USM Variety 10) was significantly influenced by the different levels and combinations of fertilizers applied. The application of 500 ml Nonoy's Liquid Seaweeds Fertilizer (NLSF) every 10 days (T5) was found effective in increasing the biomass and yield of corn. T5 successfully surpassed the control treatment (T1) and 1/2 RR (T3) in yield of corn and leveled with the effect of 1/2 RR and NLSF (T4). However, T5 failed to out yield corn in full RR (T2) and full RR plus NLSF (T6). The addition of T5 to plots with full RR and 1/2 RR inorganic fertilizers also enhanced the production of biomass and increased yield of corn.
