The strategy of development of pig production is composed of realization of the respective breeding-selection programs, which enable the use of all advantages and decrease of large number of deficiencies bound to intensive production. Numerous deficiencies, which are present in our conditions due to objective and subjective reasons, come along to exceptonally pour health and production results. It relates first of all to exceptional level of mortality in all categories of pigs as well as to low live weight gains and high feed conversion ratio. The data presented require elaboration and application of relating programs at the national as well at regional level aiming to improve the existing situation in pig production.
