The phenotypic level and variability of the longevity and lifetime production traits on Simmental cows

The investigation on the longevity and lifetime production traits was conducted on the total of 143 Simmental cows at a dairy cow farm with a loose housing system and laying boxes in Mt. Zlatibor, Serbia. In the cows investigated, the age at culling was 3298.31 days, the length of productive life was 2441.40 days, the utilization index - 72.64%, the total number of milking days - 1876.5 and the average number of lactations per cow - 5.59. As regards the lifetime production traits, lifetime milk and milk fat production, being 25290 and 928.8 kg, respectively, with a milk fat content of 3.69%, were examined. Lifetime 4% FCM production was 24049 kg. Milk production per milking, productive and lifetime day was 13.27, 10.28 amd 7.47 kg, respectively.
