Biological characteristics and application of placental godanotropins (PMSG and HCG) in pig production: [Master thesis]
2006
Lazar, D.
Placental gonadotropins (PMSG and HCG) are widely used for control and stimulation of reproductive functions in modern intensive production of pigs. Therefore the aim of this master thesis was to show, on the basis of data from literature and on the basis of results obtained by this own research, the following: a) biochemical characteristics of placental gonadotropins (PMSG - Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin and HCG - Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), b) precise technology of extraction of these gonadotropins from blood serum of pregnant mare and from urine of pregnant women, c) effects of application of pharmaceutical preparations of these hormones in production practice for the purpose of control of reproductive function in the prepubertal and sexually mature (cyclic) gilts and sows.
