Ducsay, L.,Slovenska polnohospodarska univ. v Nitre (Slovak Republic) | Varga, L.
Effects of various forms of nitrogenous nutrition on yield, content of vitamin C and accumulation of nitrates in Chinese cabbage was investigated under conditions of in a pot trial with loamy Haplic Luvisols soil. Optimized mineral NPK nutrition was found to have a significant positive effect on Chinese cabbage phytomass formation. The yield of phytomass in treatments with different nitrogenous nutrition forms decreased in the following order: (NH4)2SO4 NH4NO3 Mg(NO3)2 KNO3 DAM 390. Complete NPK nutrition also had a positive influence on the formation of vitamin C whose content dependant on the forms of nitrogenous nutrition was decreasing as follows: DAM 390 (629.0 mg/kg of vitamin C in fresh matter) Mg(NO3)2 KNO3 NH4NO3 (NH4)2SO4 (531.5 mg/kg of vitamin C in fresh matter). Optimization of an NPK rate contributed to a reduction in nitrate accumulation in fresh mass of Chinese cabbage in all the investigated treatments as compared to the unfertilized treatment, with the most expressive decrease (76.2%) in the treatment where nitrogen was applied in the form of KNO3.
