The dynamics of macronutrients in leaf and their effect on yield were monitored on apple cv Idared grown on different rootstocks in apple planting in Radmilovac, Serbia, during the season, over two-year period. It was established that N, P, and Ca leaf contents were mainly on decrease during season, whereas K and Mg contents varied as affected by phenophase and rootstock. Variation by phenophases over two-year period was most pronounced with Ca and K, partly due to their marked decrease in the second year of study. The rootstock affected the average values of macronutrients in leaf, so the significant differences occurred in P (between all rootstocks) and Mg (a much higher content was recorded on M26 as compared to the other two). The apple was well supplied in all the elements tested. Apple yield depended on rootstock - it was the heaviest on M26, lower on M9 and the lowest on MM 106 (significantly lower as compared to M26). The difference in yield by years was pronounced due to increased bearing in the second year of study. In this period of increasing cropping, a strong negative correlation between K content and yield could be observed.
