The aim of our experiment was to determine content of nutrients, and degradability of dry matter and crude protein by in sacco method in corn of selected maize hybrids at different harvest periods. We used the hybrids Mesnil, Chambor, Queen, Aude, Meridien, KX 13 93 and Omero with different FAO numbers and types of corn (dent and dent x flint). Maize was harvested in two-week intervals with four samplings from 13th August to 23rd September 2003.The in sacco experiments were conducted on three dry cows of Holstein breed at average live weight 630 kg with large rumen cannulas (10 cm diameter). We found out that dry matter content in maize corn rose with the length of vegetation period from 553.5 g/kg at first sampling to 888.0.g/kg at fourth sampling in hybrids of dent x flint type, and from 490.0 g/kg to 840.4 g/kg in hybrids of dent type. Changes in content of crude protein and starch were not of unambiguous tendency. Effective degradability of dry matter and crude protein decreased with rising ripeness of corn. Average values of crude protein content decreased for hybrids of dent x flint type from first to fourth sampling from 59.0 % to43.8 %, and of dry matter from 64.9 % to 50.9 %. Values in hybrids of dent type decreased for crude protein from 57.0 % to 47.3 % and for dry matter from 64.5 % to 53.4 %.
