Results of soyban breeding for enhancement of nitrogen fixation potential revealed that some F4 lines had the highest growth, yield components and root nodule numbers when compared with the parents. For example, the better breeding lines were for crosses having Usaha A landrace cultivar as the female parents, and SJ.1, SJ.2, SJ.5 and CM 60 as the male parents, as well as these from the crosses between SJ.4 with Usaha-A or KUSL 20004. The evidence from this study indicated that Usaha-A was a good parental cultivar in soybean breeding for increasing nitrogen fixation potentials.
