Tocopherol and tocotrienol (Vitamin E) content in fats and oils are highly important and interested in health food and naturally-occurring antioxidant. They influence stability and nutritional value of oils. Vitamin E also have attracted the attention of researcher because of their function in clinical use. Present studies found the they enhance the body defence mechanism against infections and also give protection against cancer and heart disease. Tocopherol and tocotrienol comprise mainly of alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. Among these tocopherols, gamma-tocopherol is a major form and as one of characteristics of soybean and have better antioxidant than others. The analysis of these components in 8 commercial soybean oils have been made by normal phase HPLC column with UN detector at wavelength 292 nm consist of alpha-beta-gamma and delta ranged from (Meand+-SD) 28.06+-1.12 to 303.71+-4.40, 7.51+-1.27 to 24.33+-0.85, 361.11+-3.67 to 639+-22.78, and 82.31+-1.16 to 174.98+-12.06 micro g/g, respectively. The objective of this basic research is to the increased interest in these compounds in nutrient food for health created a need form routine analysis and method of development for additional information on these compositions in soybean oils.
