Study on the social impacts on the Invasion of Golden Apple Snail (GAS) in Bueng Borapet Non-Hunting Area, Nakorn Sawan Province has the objective to study the general background of farmers, the invasion of GAS, the utilization of GAS in the study area. The questionnaire was used to interview 144 farmers. SPSS for Window programming was used to analyze data. The result shows that most of the targets group are male, the average age is 45.57 years old, there is 4.42 persons per family, the level of education is only primary education (grade 4), there is the average area of 43.70 Rai per family. The average income is 80,809.72 Baht per year. The expenses is 55,097.22 Baht per year and most of the farmers have debt. Most of farmers plant rice three times a year. Chemicals are used for planting, weeding, and fertilizing of rice. Rice damage mostly from Brown planthopper, GAS rats and crabs. Most of the farmers do not find Local Apple snails for at least 3-5 years. The average size of GAS is 5.72 cm. With 18.70 snails/square m. The invasion of GAS can be occurred all year round and make some damages to the rice seedling. Edosulfan is used to eliminate GAS which can made destruction to other aquatic faunas (aquatic ecosystem) but the rice production is still increased. Most of the farmer does not use GAS for any purposes. Some factors comparison for the invasion of GAS are as follows: 1. The amount in number of GAS has no effect for the farmers to the decision of rice planting. 2. The number of GAS has a significant effect to the number of local apple snail. 3. The number of GAS in the field has an effect to farmer to decide for the methods of GAS elimination.
