Experiments were conducted to establish the efficacy of some organophosphorous insecticides and synthetic pirethroids used for control against Ephestia elutella, Hunb.: Sumition 100 EC (fenitrotion), Actellic 50 EC (pirimiphos-methyl), Reldan 50 EC (chlorpyriphos-methyl), Nuvan 100 EC (dichlorvos), Fifanon 40 EB (malathion), К-Othrine 2,5 EC F (deltamethrin), Fendona 6 EC (alfa-cipermethrin), Bandit 10 EB (cipermethrin) and Coopex 25 BP (permethrin). The trials were provided at laboratory conditions (tempetajure 20 ± 1° C and relative humidity 70 ± 5%) using standard methods in the applied entomology. The results showed that Sumithion 100 EC was most effective, followed by Reldan 50 EC and Actellic 50 EC. From all tested insecticides Fifanon 40 EB was with the lowest efficacy. Nuvan 100 EC had the fastest initial action with high efficacy due to its high steam pressure. Such a pressure had also Actellic 50 EC and with the lowest steam action was Fifanon 40 EB. It was established that Sumition 100 EC was with the longest persistence from all the insecticides, and with the lowest Fifanon 40 EB and Nuvan 100 EC. The experiments were carried out at Plant Protection Institute, Kostinbrod, during 20002005.
