Problems of soil acidity and liming
2008
Fajtondzhiev, L.
It was discussed the problems of the soil acidity and liming. Special attention was paid on the development and present state of these problems in Bulgaria. It was shown the essence /methods for determination of the acidity and lime requirement etc./ of the two basic conceptions and the differences between them. Palaveev and Totevs one is the legal /standardized/ method for liming in Bulgaria and it is based on the easy movable exchange acidity and calcium and magnesium cations determined by a single extraction with 1 N KCl. The basis of Ganevs conception is the total exchange acidity determined by a multiple extraction /leaching on a funnel/ with 1 N СаСl2 and this makes it too close to the classical decisions for determination of the lime requirement. A special feature of Ganev`s approach to the soil acidity and liming is his standpoint that there is an universal acid optimum at pH 6.0 /in water/ for all plants.
