[Effect of technogenic emissions on the content of plastid pigments in leaves of woody plants]

Results of investigation of reactions of photosynthetic pigments of three prevailing deciduous woody plant varieties of Small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata Mill.), Norway maple (Acer platanoides L.) and Horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) to the action of technogenic emissions of urban environment in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus were presented. Comparative analysis of plastid pigments content in leaves in the conditions of different levels of technogenic loads in 2005-2006 was realized. Research results showed that all studied varieties showed different reaction to the action of polluted air. Horse chestnut proved to be the most sensitive to the pollutants action. Small-leaved lime and Norway maple showed the heightened resistance to the gaseous atmospheric pollutants. Technogenic emission exercised influence on the content and ratio of chlorophyll and carotenoids in all studied plants. Changes of the pigment coating of wooden plants under the influence of polluted air depended on the degree of plant species resistance as well as on the degree and chemical composition of the pollutants. More sensitive plants showed the higher level chloroplast pigment system distortion
