Investigation of the acute and chronic toxicity of trace elements complexonates on the basis of sodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (sodium EDTA) included in the composition of the veterinary preparations Kobalvet (CoNaEDTA), Kuprovet (CuEDTA), Tsinkovet (ZnNaEDTA) and Feravet (FeEDTA) produced in the Republic of Belarus for the treatment and prophylaxis of diseases of trace element deficiencies in cattle was realized. Parameters of toxicity level (disorders of cicatrical digestion, laboratory syndrome) of sodium EDTA preparations after their oral administration to experimental calves were analyzed. Correlation of trace elements content in blood and dose of administrated preparations was analyzed on the seventh day after treatment and showed that the toxic effect of the preparations was conditioned by the accumulation of trace elements in vital part of calf organism. Investigation of the chronic toxicity did not reveal any clinical or laboratory symptoms of toxicosis with trace elements complexonates. Trace elements dynamics in blood showed the tendency for increasing. The content of the analyzed elements in animal blood was within the physiological standard limits. The determined parameters of the acute toxicity could recommend the analyzed preparations for use in therapy and prophylaxis of microelementoses of cattle
