The aim of this work was to research the relationship between variable meteorological conditions and the instability of the length of growth stages and yield of peas. The results of phenological growth and yield were obtained from varietals experiments during 1993-2003 (cultivar Komet) and 1980-1994 (cultivar Bohatyr). Both cultivars are high yielding, but their yields are sensible to environmental conditions (from 2.87 to 7.53 t/ha) with coefficients of variance ranging from 10.0% (the locality with low yield variability) to 26.8% (the locality with high yield variability). The weather is the main reason for yield instability because it influences the onset and length of growth stages of peas. The length of the generative stage had a positive effect on the yield of peas. It was prolonged when the number of days with low temperatures (under 15 deg C) increased (r=0.65-0.97). It depended also on precipitations (r=0.78-0.83).
