Determination of economic efficiency of wheat farmers in different regions in Iran(under major wheat cultivar)

The purpose of this study is to determine and compare of economic efficiency of wheat farmers in defferent climatical regions (warm climate:Darab, intermediate climate: Zarghan and submediterranean climate :Gholestan). For estimate of wheat stochastic frontier production function and stochastic technical inefficiency of wheat farmers simultaniously, the computer program Frontier 4.1 was used and for the determine of economic efficiency, the frontier cost function method was used. So the data were collected using multiple random sampling methods. The results showed that the average of technical, economic and allocative efficiency of wheat farmers respectively in Zarghan region were 75, 49 and 70 percent, and in Darab region were 74 ,26and 68 and in Gholestan region were 78, 71 and 56 percent. The results of estimation showed that there was a positive meaningful relationship between the number of labour and the area of wheat and the negative relation between the number of land parcels of wheat are with technical efficiency in warm climate. there was a positive meaningful relationship between the number of plough, amount of potasium fertilizer and seed used per hectare and the number of irrigations with technical efficiency, and also the result shows a positive meaningful relationship between amount of seed used per hectare and amount of nitrogenus fertilizer and the number of herbicide application, planting experience, attention in extention classe and the number of plough with technical efficiency in submediterranean climate The results showed that the number of labour, area of wheat cultivate and ownership of irrigation water source have direct (positive) effect and the number of land parcels of wheat has indirect effect with economic efficiency and the number of land parcels of wheat area have indirect (negative) effect in wheat production in warm climet but, in intermediate climate the number of plough, amount of potasium fertilizer used per hectare, amount of seed used per hectare and the number of irrigations of wheat farms with wheat production have direct (positive) meainingful effect in wheat production. There were a positive meaningful relationship between the amount of nitrogenus fertilizer used per hectare, amount of seed used per hectare and the number of herbicide application in wheat production of submediterranean climate. Therefore there are a possibility to raise efficiency of wheat farmers with extension of managerial factors and better use of available resources and existing technology, in Darab 20, Zarghan 24 and Gholestan 19 percent.
