A survey on the catch of Penaeus indicus brood stocks by artisonal shrimp fishing in Jask area

ABSTRACT: Brood stocks shrimp catches are exploitated in important fishing ground of Hormozgan provinces from 1994. Survey of brood stock shrimps catch projects carried out during (March, April, May, June and July) of 2001 and 2002. Data were collected by artisonal shrimp fishing trawler per biweakly. Result showd that P. indicus was dominant shrimp species in Jask and Sirik areas with 59.5% and 25% respectively, another species such as, P. semisulcatus (20.5 - 20%), P. merguiensis (13.5 - 19.5%), Metapenaeus affinis (5.5 - 16.5%), Metapenaeus stebengi (0 - 14.5%) and Parapenaeus stylifera (1 - 4.5%) were found in total catch of Jask and Sirik areas respectively. CLm50 for P. indicus females were 34.7mm in jask and 34.5mm in the Sirik areas. Tukey test analysis showed that average carapace lengths of P. indicus females in Jask were more than Sirik area, with different subsequent (ل= 0.05). Sex ratio analysis showed was not 1:1 between female and males. Maximum destribution of P. indicus, P. semisulcatus and P. merguiensis spawners, were found during (March to Jun) in Jask and (Jun to July) in Sirik areas.
