Collection and identification of gall-inducing insects and their natural enemies on oak trees in west Azarbaijane province.

Oak gallwasps are very important due to having varius species ,complex lifecycle,sexual and asexual generations and existing of warped insects in galls.In this survey that carried out during 2003 to 2005,oak gall wasps and their natural enemies were collected from oak forests of west Azarbaijan province,during growth seasons (from April to November)once per 15days. The occured galls on oak trees were collected from locations such as : Ghabre- Hosein,Mirabad,Nalas,Vavan,Banookhalaf,Ghasem-Rash,Shalmash,Hamran,Rabat and Zamziran and then were remarkabled with the host plant,name of location,date of collection and then taken to lab.In order to exiting of galler agents and other insects such as inquilines and parasitoiids, the galls were put in the tube rearing flask base on the galls shape.The extract agents of the galls together of other insects were taken to Pample solution and were identified by Dr George Melika and Dr Rachel Atkinson base on the galls shape.In this survey, 49 species of oak gallwasps and one Cecidomyiid on oak trees( Quercus infectoria , Q.brantii and Q.libani ) in west Azarbaijan province were identified. Among these oak gall wasps species,37 species of oak gall wasps on Quercus infectoria , 10 gall wasps species on Q.brantii and 2 species of gall wasps on Q.libani were collected. Two species Andricus atkinsonae and A.Pujadevillari are the frist report to the world and 12 species are new record to fauna of Iran.3 number of inquilines were identified that the species Cerptres cerri is new record to fanua of iran and the species Synergus acsi and Saphonecrus irani are new records for the world.Among these collected galls,Mazooj due to having high of tannin at the view of point of economical and drug effects is very important.
