In order to study the effects of different levels of pruning severity and number of buds/ cane on productivity and fruit quality of rain-fed grapes cultivars &rdquoRasha&rdquoand &rdquoKhoshnaw&rdquo, an experiment was conducted in Marivan during 2000 – 2005. Two levels of pruning severity ( 20 + 10 and 40 + 20 based on balance pruning ) in conjunction with three levels of remained buds per cane ( 3, 6 or 9 buds/cane respectively ) were performed as factorial ( 2 × 3 ) in a RCBD design with 3 replications for each cultivar separately. Results showed a high significant difference between pruning severity levels in each cultivar for total yield, yield per bud, cluster weight, berry weight, amounts of anthocyanin and weight of pruned shoots. Total yield, yield per bud and the weight of pruned shoots per plant were significant in different levels of bud/cane in both cultivars. The interaction effect of pruning severity × number of buds/cane showed a significant difference for total yield in Rasha cultivar. In general , pruning severity at level 40 + 20 with 6 buds/cane had the highest yield in both cultivars (12.410 and 10.420 kg/plant respectively in Rashah and Khoshnaw cultivars) while the best fruit quality was obtained from the pruning severity of 20 + 10 with 3 bud in each cane.
