The purpose of this study was to evaluate to resistance to sugar beet germplasm for sugar beet cyst nematode. Twelve sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) genotypes were evaluated for resistance to sugar beet cyst nematode (sbcn) in 2005.This trial was done at Khorasan-razavi( Mashad) and West Azerbaijan(Khoy) provinces . The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with four replications. At a farm infected with SBCN was selected, Then ,the number of nematodes before and after host plant cultivation were counted on genotypes in the four replications .The ratio of final (pf) to initial (pi) populations of nematode ( Reproductive factor = Pf/Pi) was calculated .In this trial, sugar beet yield and quality components were evaluated. An analysis of variance was performed and the means were separated was computed by using the least significant difference (LSD) test. Results indicated that the amount of yield loss caused by SBCN depends on the initial nematode population density, climatic conditions and reproduction rate. In Mashad experiment, Pauletta variety had the highest rood and sugar yields and the genotype W-1009 had the lowest root yield. Among hybrids, 261*(20314*W-1009) genotype had the highest root yield. In Khoy experiment, Paulina and HI0023 varieties had the higher root yield than the other genotypes, whereas the other resistant check variety (Anema) had the lowest and the genotype W-1009 had the highest root yield. Of course, W-1009 increased reproductive rate of the nematode. Genotype 231*(20447*W-1009) was the second genotype with respect to root yield. Anema and pauletta having a higher yield than the two check varieties.
