[Iron deficiency anaemia of piglets. A still actual problem]

إنجليزي. The aetiology, the pathogenesis and the clinical signs of the piglets iron deficiency anaemia are considered. The effects of two different intramuscular treatments in prevention of iron deficiency are reported. Thirty-six 2-day-old piglets belonging to 9 litters were allocated in the two treatment groups (Group G - iron glucoheptonate and Group C - iron dextran) and bled at 7, 21 and 35 days of life. The statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the two groups. Particularly, piglets injected with iron glucoheptonate had higher red blood cell count and haemoglobin content as compared to the control positive group. Taken together, the results allow the conclusion that the intramuscular injection of iron glucoheptonate can better assist in preventing iron deficiency anaemia of piglets

Dopo aver richiamato l'eziologia e i meccanismi fisiopatologici dell'anemia ferropriva dei suinetti, tuttora persistente anche nelle condizioni odierne dell'allevamento intensivo, vengono riportati i risultati di una verifica sperimentale volta a valutare l'efficacia di due diversi trattamenti a base di ferro somministrato per via intramuscolare in suinetti neonati. Il confronto tra i due gruppi ha messo in evidenza un diverso comportamento dei valori di emoglobina ed eritrociti nei due gruppi di trattamento, sia a 21, sia a 35 giorni di età. In particolare, si deve segnalare che i soggetti trattati con ferro glucoeptonato hanno denunciato livelli superiori dei parametri qualificanti l'utilizzazione del ferro somministrato nella prevenzione della patologia carenziale
