Studies on annual pasture legume ecotypes of Ragusa plateau [Sicily]

Some important traits of self-reseeding pasture legume ecotypes of Lotus ornithopodioides, Astragalus hamosus, Medicago hispida, M. orbicularis and M. rugosa in the native pastures of the Hyblean upland (Sicily) were studied. The results obtained showed a shorter cycle of M. rugosa ecotypes compared to L. ornithopodioides. M. rugosa and M. hispida ecotypes proved to be the most assurgent species. This last was the species with the highest number of leaves and the highest seed yield

Sono state studiate le caratteristiche di venticinque ecotipi di leguminose foraggere autoriseminanti (Lotus ornithopodioides, Astragalus hamosus, Medicago hispida, M. orbicularis e M. rugosa), presenti nei riposi pascolativi degli Iblei (Ragusa). I campi di confronto sono stati realizzati in agro di Cava d'Ispica (Ragusa). I risultati ottenuti hanno messo in evidenza la brevità del ciclo di M. rugosa in confronto a L. ornithopodioides. Gli ecotipi di M. rugosa e M. hispida sono apparsi caratterizzati da più elevata assurgenza.
