Composition and chemical polymorphism of essential oil in Satureja cuneifolia Ten. [Apulia]

Essential oils of Satureja cuneifolia Ten. collected in different sites from Southern Apulia (Italy) were analysed using gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques, to assess their chemical variability. The study showed the presence of more than 100 components of the oils; only 18 were present in an amount equal or superior than 5%. The cluster analysis led to the identification of seven chemotypes: linalool, camphene, alpha-terpineol, camphor, borneol, alpha-pinen-3-caren2ol, alpha-pinen-3-caren2ol-alpha-terpineol. MDS analysis confirmed the biosynthetic pathways of some compounds

L'analisi GC/MS ha permesso l'identificazione di oltre 100 composti, 18 dei quali presenti, per almeno un caso, per oltre il 5%. La cluster analysis ha permesso la loro suddivisione in 7 chemiotipi: linalolo, canfene, alfa-terpineolo, canfora, borneolo, alfa-pinene-3caren-2olo, alfa-pinene-3caren-2olo-alfa-terpineolo. Infine, attraverso l'analisi MDS sono state confermate le vie biosintetiche di alcuni composti
