The paddy rice [Oryza sativa] damage and the behavior of nitrate-nitrogen in subsurface water in the paddy field adjoined to the tea [Camellia sinensis] field

The lodging damage of paddy-rice with excessive nitrogen occurred in the rice field that is adjacent to the tea filed in the Nishi-Mikawa diluvial terrace. To clear the aspect of damage and cause, we investigated the growth of rice plant and the behavior of Nitrate-nitrogen in the rice-field. And the soil layer structure was also investigated by simplified penetrometers test. The lower layer of the tea field was connected with the surface part of the adjacent rice field as a result of the penetration test. So it is guessed that the subsurface water containing high amount of nitrate-nitrogen flew directly from the tea field to the soil layer of the rice field. As a result, because the quantity of nitrate-nitrogen which cannot do denitrification in paddy-field was supplied in surface soil, I was superabundant, and paddy-rice absorbed nitrogen, and it was guessed that fragility became it, and culm did lodge.
