Determinants of manure delivery-and-scattering services in manure supply organizations

The purpose of this study is to consider the determinants of manure delivery-and-scattering services in manure supply organizations. The main findings of this study are as follows. The determinants of service provisioning are as follows: (1) Production scale - Organizations with a large production scale tend to provide the service. (2) Raw materials - Organizations that use dairy cows' excrement show a greater tendency to provide services compared to organizations that use other domestic animals' excrement. (3) Location conditions - Organizations in a district where farmers' arable land scale is large show a tendency to provide the service. Organizations within a district where a lot of cows and pigs exist show a tendency to provide the service. Organizations in city regions also show a tendency to provide the service. The determinants of firms continuing to provide this service are: (1) Operation scale - The average cost of the service is controlled by the position of the customers' rice fields and the organization's experience. According to our analysis, the best operation scale per year is about 110-150 hectares. (2) Customers - Aged farmers, farmers with big cultivated acreage, and farmers who have many argillaceous rice fields show a tendency to utilize the service. It is important to make such farmers the stable customers for such services.
