إنجليزي. The article discusses about biomedicine and biopharmacology branch situation and development perspectives in Europe and world. Evaluation of this branch in Latvia and wider SWOT analysis and conclusions are given. The author introduces with the main research centres in this field - Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis and Biomedical Research and Study Centre, University of Latvia. The author also describes the situation in education and the preparation of specialists in biomedicine in Latvia.
