The study evaluated 7 treatments such as Chorchorus olitorius, Indigofera tinctoria, Trianthema portulacastrum, Cardiospermum halicacabum, Ipomoea triloba. The study was conducted to: 1) determine the effects of different weed species as green manure materials on the growth and yield of hybrid rice, 2) compare the NPK content of the different weed species as green manure materials for hybrid rice, 3) evaluate the Agronomic Nitrogen Use Efficiency (ANUE) of hybrid rice applied with different weed biomass as green manure, 4) determine the cost and return analysis of hybrid rice applied with different weed species. Highest green yield of 5637.01 kg/ha was produced from plants applied with Indigofera tinctoria although comparable with those plots applied with recommended rate (120-60-30) with 5195.54 kg/ha, C. olitorius, 5389.91 kg/ha and I. triloba, 5106.59 kg/ha. Except for C. halicacabum, P10104.20 all the weed species incorporated had a higher net income, P12,012.98-P21,607.81 when compared with the application of the recommended rate of fertilizer, P10,648.34. In view of the above, it is recommended that all weeds present in the field should be allowed to grow before land preparation for rice for biomass production and incorporation into the soil which will serve as sources of nitrogen and other nutrients for rice.
