To study the response of Brassica juncea L. to various combinations of N and P application, a field experiment was conducted at Latif Experimental Farm, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam during 2001-2002, on non-saline, non-sodic, medium textured soil. Three varieties (Early Raya, P-53/48-2 and S-9) and six N and P combinations (F1 = control, F2 = 50-15, F3 = 75-30, F4 = 100-45, F5 = 125-60 and F6 = 150-75 kg ha-1) were included in the experiment. The experiment was arranged in RCBD, replicated four times with factorial arrangement. Data revealed that increase in application of N and P combinations significantly increased all the yield attributes. Among all the three varieties S-9 under 150-75 kg N and P ha-1 had maximum plant height (178.30 cm), branches plant-1 (20.10), pods plant-1 (550.00), seeds pod-1 (11. 15), seed wt. Plant-1 (20.50 g) and seed yield ha-1 (1820.10 kg). Whereas, variety Early Raya under same fertilizer treatment pro duce maximum seed index (3.53 g) and oil content (43.05 %). It is concluded that 150 kg ha-1 + 75 kg ha-1 are optimum doses of N and P for improving yield and its components in Brassica juncea L. under agro climatic condition of Tandojam.
