21 faecal swabs from domestic pigeons (Columba livia var. domestica), coming from Szczecin's area, were investigated using PCR for Yersinia entetocolitica, Salmonella spp. and STEC. The yop1 gene fragment (269 bp), characteristic for Y. enterocolitica, was identified in 4 (19 percent) and the DNA rep. ori. gene fragment (163 bp.), characteristic for Salmonella spp. was found in 1 (4.8 percent) from 21 samples. The PCR products of slt-IA/IIA gene was not identified in any of these 21 investigated samples that STEC bacteria group was not present. The evaluation time of the test amounted to 24 h for each of investigated microorganism. Obtained results confirmed the usefulness of PCR for quick identification of Y. enterocolotica, Salmonella spp. and STEC in faecal swabs from pigeons
