Each compared group consisted of 30 pigs. In Polish Landrance (PL) 21 NN an 9 Nn, in Pietrain (P) 3 Nn and 27 nn, in Zlotniki Spotted (ZS) 12 NN, 15 Nn and 3 nn were present. In the PL pigs the average daily gain (ADG) fo NN 734 +- 88 g) was higher than for Nn (629 +- 73 g)(P less 0.01). The average backfat thickness (BF) fo NN (24.4 +- 3.5 mm) was lower than for Nn (27.6 +- 3.2 mm)(P less 0.05). The carcass lean, however, did not show any significant differences. The loin eye area (LEA) for the both genotypes approximated 42.3 +- 4.7 square cm (NN) and 40.7 +- 2.7 square cm (Nn). Lean meat in carcass (LMC) was 50.1 +- 2.7 percent for NN and 52.0 +- 2.2 percent for Nn. Pietrain pigs were predominantly of nn genotype and differences between Nn and nn were not significant. For Nn and nn ADG was 647 +- 105 vs 694 +- 106 g, BF 13.6 +- 2.2 vs 17.5 +- 3.7 mm, LEA 58.1 +- 9.1 vs 57.2 +- 6.1 square cm, LMC 63.6 +- 1.0 vs 63.1 +- 3.5 percent. In ZS pigs ADG for NN and nn was 693 +- 147, 702 +- 91 and 823 +- 92g, BF 33.7 +- 5.1, 31.2 +- 4.4 and 33.8 +- 1.0 mm, LEA 32.0 +- 5.9, 35.1 +- 3.6 and 35.3 +- 3.5 square cm, LMC 43.3 +- 3.4, 45.4 +- 3.1, 45.2 +- 4.3 percent, respectively. It is concluded that breed differences are larger than those due RYR1 genotype
