The studies concerned the estimation of weed infestation and yield of spring wheat which was cultivated in monoculture with different tillage systems (conventional tillage and direct sowing). It was noticed that simplification of soil tillage system caused an increase in the number of weeds especially Echinochloa crus-galli but weeds like Viola arvensis, Chenopodium album and Veronica arvensis were reduced. The number and composition of weed species differed significantly in favour of the conventional tillage system while direct sowing resulted in increased weeds number. The conventional tillage offered the most favourable conditions for growth and higher yield of spring wheat
