The field study was carried out in 2003-2005 based on static experiment laid out in 1999 on the soils classified as Albic Luvisols developed on loamy sands overlying loamy materials. The objective of this study was to determine the comparative effects of three tillage systems: conventional ploughing, reduced tillage with shallow stubble cultivator and direct drilling on some physicochemical soil properties. After 4-6 years water content in 0-5 cm soil layer, bulk density in 10-20 cm layer were significantly higher in reduced tillage and direct drilling than in conventional tillage. Ploughing gave significantly lower values of capillary water porosity than reduced tillage and direct drilling to a depth of 20 cm
