The effect of the potato cultivation way for early crop and nitrogen fertilization on the N-total and N-NO3 content in tubers of very early cultivars (Aster and Drop) was investigated. Potatoes were harvested 60 and 75 days after planting. It was found, that the forcing of plant vegetation by agrotextile covering resulted in a slight increase in the N-total content in the tubers and decrease in the N-NO3, accumulation. The nitrogen fertilization had no significant effect on the N-total content but the increase in the nitrogen dose caused an increase in the N-NO3 content. The tubers of Aster cultivar contained more N-total and N-NO3 than Drop one. The higher temperature and the shortage of rainfalls in the vegetation period of potato increased the N-total and N-NO3 content in the tubers
