The response of 9 new spring wheat cultivars to increasing nitrogen rates: 1.2, 2.4, 3.6 g N per pot were investigated in Mirscherlich pots in 2003-05. The cultivars and strains of spring wheat reacted differently on nitrogen doses increase. The dose of 2.4 g N/pot caused a significant yield increase in cultivars: Bryza, Tybalt, Zadra and KOC 6401. The cultivars: Radunia, Parabola, CHD 302, KOH 2401, and SW 39144 showed a significant yield increase up to N rate 3.6 g N per pot. Grain quality of spring wheat cultivars depended on nitrogen fertilization rate. The increase of nitrogen dose up to 2.4 g N per pot increased the protein and gluten content in grain of Radunia, Zadra, Parabola, KOH 2401 and SW 39144 cultivars
